There’s a set of hills in this photo, at least there would be, if visibility was more than 1.4 miles. Richmond, CA is socked in with smoke. The bacon smell is entering the house despite the air purifier.

Oof - stay safe.
Caught a news update this morning that the forest fires out there have burned an area the size of the Grand Canyon - that’s insane!
I talked to someone in San Jose yesterday and they’re socked in with smoke too.

We had it like this in Seattle 2 years ago - on the worst days visibility was probably like 1/8 mile, and I didn’t jog for a week - you’d smell like smoke, and it was probably like smoking a pack during a run. On the worst days there was ash falling from the sky. No fun.
It’ll make the blue skies that much sweeter when they finally return.

Yeah, the cars aren’t getting washed until this is over. Day 1 was falling ash.

Break out the California Car Duster. I guess it has that name for a reason.

It was awful, if memory serves much of the smoke came from fires in B.C. Thankful we haven’t had any major problems (so far) t hi s year. That said it is 2020 so..

Yep, I think we had some unusual winds from the NE, which blew smoke into the metro area. IIRC a couple times it resembled light snow, but with a smell.
I’m expecting Rainier or Baker to “burp” by the end of the year, just for laughs.

Critters, lots of critters. Their carcasses burn a lot longer than a tree.
